Happy Monday friends!
This past weekend I attended the Ultimate Women’s Expo at the L.A. Convention Center with my good friend and P.R. guru, Devan. The UWE is one of the biggest beauty conventions that come to town, featuring celebrity guest speakers like Tia Mowry and Niecy Nash and a huge variety of vendors, ranging from spa, nails, makeup, skin to home decor and wine tasting. We spent almost four hours at this huge convention and couldn’t get enough of the great deals, samples and wine tastings!
The Ultimate Women’s Expo comes to a bunch of cities annually, so grab your most comfy pair of flats and best girlfriends for a fun day of shopping!
I was really impressed with the vendor turnout. Bloomie’s had their own booth!
I drooled over these Chanel lip glosses.
Veebow is a new smart phone app, backed by Valerie Bertinelli, that offers coupons similar to Groupon. It’s free so download it!
I found some of my favorite Mary Kay Timewise skin care products.
Body Kantina brought all their yummy handmade soaps. I wish you could smell how delicious this pineapple coconut soap was!
I love the packaging. The ones on the right smelled like ocean and sunscreen. MMmmhhmmm
There were also lots of fun jewelry booths to look at. We definitely noticed a trend in hair jewelry!
Benefit Cosmetics, known for their quirky packaging and ridiculous cute products, was there.
The wine tasting began with this delicious Rose Regale brand. It’s a sweet and bubbly sparkling wine that goes down easy and would be a fantastic addition to any sangria.
We found cool arts and crafts booths like this one below, featuring drinking cups made out of beer and vodka bottles!
Your destination for all things belly dance is BellyDance.com They literally have everything you could ever need like costumes, class wear, jewelry, accessories like finger cymbals and veils and even instructional dvds and world music. If you couldn’t tell in the photo below, I’m a huge fan of belly dancing, and not because of Shakira either. I grew up going to kabob houses and middle eastern restaurants and was introduced to belly dancers early on. I was always the little kid who got up and danced alongside the beautiful dancing women who I so admired. Here I am taking a quick lesson a the BellyDance.com booth. I ended up buying myself this upper-arm snake bracelet for $8 and some Arabian Grooves music. LOVE! Even if you aren’t necessarily a “belly dancer,” this site has great jewelry and costume pieces for super affordable prices.

This woman was drawing people’s names with her amazing calligraphy skills.
Wine Tasting Stop #2: Refresh by Turning Leaf.
Turning Leaf recently launched Refresh as a new line of quality wines at an affordable price. I absolutely LOVED their refreshing Crisp White flavor. They also carry Red Moscato and regular Moscato, both bubbly and easily drinkable. These products can be found at almost any grocery chain or liquor store.
Check out this awesome furniture setup by Lux Lounge Event Furniture Rentals!
My favorite all-natural skin and body brand, LUSH had a booth! I practically tripped over 4 other people as soon as I smelled the familiar scents in the air. I’m a huge fan of their Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner. It’s a skin conditioner that you use in the shower. After you rinse off, you pat dry and have silky smooth skin til your next shower!
Here I am getting a hand treatment, ahhhhhhh.
Here is Linda K and her fabulous hand-made prayer stools. Aren’t they cute? She makes custom furniture and accessories, and told me that many people use these prayer stools to store photos, jewelry and keepsakes. Check out her website here.
Umm, this was wine tasting stop #62023575343. SALUTE!
Here’s Devan trying on an amazing berry lipstick that is so on Fall trend. We didn’t like the formula, but decided the color was a must-have.
I absolutely LOVED the One Minute Manicure scrubs! They come in a variety of scents and leave your skin soft for hours. I actually bought a few for an upcoming giveaway I’ll be doing on my blog- stay tuned!
Touch of Purple is an all-purpose natural cleaner that keeps jewelry sparkling like new. The sales man cleaned my rings with it and I could not believe how much gunk came off! I immediately bought a bottle, and according to him, you can also use this stuff on glass, LED screens, ceiling fans, computers etc and Touch of Purple literally prevents dust from forming. LOVE IT.
Okay peeps, this Hot Iron Holster was probably the most exciting thing we saw all day. It’s silicone material clings to any smooth surface without adhesives and holds your hot styling tools while in use! I’ve never seen anything like this. It comes in black, white and hot pink. And my hair stylist readers, get ready because these babies come in a professional, larger size that you can hang over the back of your client’s chair while styling. SO genious!
Among the things we didn’t get to do because we ran out of time were: manicure touch-ups by OPI and facial treatments galore. We literally stumbled out of there and got some food so we could drive home! Can’t wait for next year!
*Please click the links to visit each vendor’s website for more information.
**I do not get paid by anyone for my reviews. I only bring to my readers what I think are truly good products and values. Hence, I skipped reviewing the vendors I was not impressed by at the show. Please enjoy my finds and let me know if you agree/disagree with any of these product reviews, I’d love to hear from you!
Hi peeps! Here is the last of my Halloween costume looks for this year. I thought with all the zombie shows taking off on television, it would only be appropriate to bring to you an undead makeup look. There are a LOT of variations on zombies, so I thought I would show you how to do the quickest and easiest version of this monster.
If you’re going to be a zombie for Halloween, you really have to commit. No zombie is complete without wounds and fake blood. Cinema Secrets has a location in Burbank (and a great website online if you don’t live in So CaL) where you can find everything you need to be a zombie for a decent price. What’s great about Cinema Secrets is that they sell everything in small amounts, keeping the price down. This way, you aren’t stuck with a ton of product you’ll never use again.
Below is a full list of the products I used. Have fun!
Cinema Secrets Face Cream in Forensic Green
Ben Nye Nose & Scar Wax
Woochie Glass Attack Kit
Woochie .38 Exit Appliance Latex
Cinema Secrets Blood Gel
Cinema Secrets Spirit Gum
Cinema Secrets Flesh Latex

Ha ha ha, I crack myself up! With Halloween fast approaching, I was beginning to feel a little burnt out. I’ve been doing Halloween looks and nail art since mid-September, and felt like I ran out of ideas. It took me a couple of days to really think about what I wanted to do next on my nails. I pulled out my polish drawer and poked around to see what color “spoke” to me. Essie’s St. Lucia Lilac caught my eye so I painted all my nails two solid coats. I knew I wanted to do stitches, so I picked Essie’s Chinchilly as the second patch color- this pretty grey compliments the lavender shade beautifully. I drew random angles free-hand as to wear I wanted the patches- no tape needed! Because I’m obsessed with glitter, I topped the Chinchilly off with Sinful Colors’ Frenzy glitter, which is a duo-tone purple and blue glitter. Then, I took my black Kiss nail art bottle and went to town, creating long lines separating the two shades, then short strokes to create the stitches.
This was pretty easy as far as nail art goes. It’s great for a last minute Halloween party or ghoulish night out. Enjoy!
If you thought my Be Well Expo trip was a good time, just WAIT until I get to the Ultimate Women’s Expo! According to the website, “The Ultimate Women’s Expo is the nation’s largest event designed for active women, featuring over 600 local, regional and national exhibitors each weekend of the Expo that provide products and services designed for women, their home and their family.”
Vendors range from shopping, travel, fashion, food, entertainment and cosmetics: so basically everything us girls are interested in. There will be wine tasting and samples to take home, and pampering services like spa massages and manicures. There will also be celebrity guest speakers. So grab your girlfriends and get to this show! I’m going to the Los Angeles show on Sunday, October 28th, and this show is also coming to Houston, Georgia, Dallas and Chicago. Click on the link above to find dates.
The good news is that most of the shows are offering BOGO prices. I bought 4 tickets for the price of one on Bloomspot but hurry, this offer will only run for five more days. Check out who just SOME of the exhibitors will be below….
Hope to see you there!
Happy Monday! Today I want to talk to you guys about a new product I found at the Be Well Expo. Graceland Collagen Peeling Gel is a Korean product made with the ever-popular rice enzyme that we are seeing pop up all over Asia. I’ve never tried Korean skin care so I was pretty excited to give this a shot.
I’ve been using it twice a week for three weeks now and have noticed a glow and smoothness on my face that I haven’t seen before. This stuff is pretty gentle: doesn’t sting and is not abrasive what-so-ever. This gel-based exfoliator removes dead skin cells and impurities, making way for brighter, smoother, healthier skin. It contains the Aloe Leaf plant extract which soothes any redness. It just feels rejuvenating!
Here’s what it looks like out of the bottle:
Rub it into your skin until you see the little rice granules start to form. I leave it on for one minute then rinse off with cool water. Your skin will immediately look brighter and smoother. It’s a little ridiculous how fast it happens! I now feel comfortable leaving the house without foundation on.
The Collagen Peeling Gel will run you anywhere from $20-30. You can find this product on Amazon and Ebay. If you live in the Los Angeles area, then you’re in luck: the L.A. Beauty Store is a seller of this product and they have three locations:
KOREA TOWN: 3571 W. 3rd St. #A
DOWNTOWN: 1519 S. Main St.
LA BREA: 471 W. Lambert Rd #113
Happy Tuesday Beauty Junkies!
Today I bring you the third installment from my Halloween Costume series I’ve been doing on Youtube. I grew up watching The Munsters on Nick at Night. I was obsessed! If you haven’t seen it, it’s basically a black and white 60’s version of The Addams Family. Lily Munster was the matriarch of the family. The family had one “normal” cousin, who they always “felt bad for” ha ha!
Here’s a photo of the lovely actress who played Lily, Yvonne De Carlo. Check out those amazing eye brows!
Although this is technically a “monster” makeup I feel like it’s really a beauty look. Lily Munster was very stylish and wore hip, 60’s eye makeup. The Munsters aired in black and white, but I thought it would be more fun to do a color version of her look. I found a few photos of her in color, and this is what the makeup looked like behind the scenes:
Here’s my version: what do you think?
Peep the tutorial to follow the steps on how to achieve this look. I want to let you guys know that this is a great step-by-step video to get a “monster” or “pin up zombie” look as well, just add scarring and extra shading! Enjoy
I also want to let everyone know that Cinema Secrets has a great store in Burbank, Calif. (if you are close!) that carries everything you would ever need to create a Halloween look. If you don’t live in the area, please check out their website for all of their affordable products!

Today I want to highlight a very special vendor I met at the Be Well Expo: Mouna de Laine and her Moroccan Argan Oil.
As someone who has tried various brands of Argan Oil, I have to say that I wasn’t the biggest fan. All the brands I’ve tried have been on the greasy side, and leave my hair feeling oily and limp. Walking up to her booth, I was wary but willing to give Argan Oil another shot. I allowed Mouna to try a small amount on my arm and I couldn’t believe how fast it dried down. The smell was light and intoxicating at the same time. My skin looked as though there was a glow coming from within, without dripping with oil. I asked Mouna what made her Argan Oil so different than the ones I’ve tried at the store, and here’s what she told me.
Mouna, now a resident of the United States, came from Morocco, where most of her family still resides. She travels back home once a year, where her aunts and cousins physically grind and break down each Argan nut by hand and squeeze out the natural oils. She collects the oil from them and brings it back to Los Angeles, where she now lives. Then, she and other women bottle the products in her own home. For the hair oil, she herself submerges herbs and botanicals in the oil and lets it sit in her home before the bottling process.
Mouna, well aware of other Argan oil brands’ marketing ploys claiming “they get their Argan oil from Morocco” brought along videos and photos showing her own family members hard at work in the old country. As someone who has tried all kinds of Argan oil, even those same “natural brands” who swear their oil comes from the same place, I have noticed a significant difference in the product. The way it feels, the way it dries down and the way it smells all testify that Mouna’s Argan Oil is the real deal.
Here are some questions I asked Mouna:
What makes Argan Oil so great?
MOUNA: “Argan Oil is known to visibly correct sun damage, discoloration and reduces wrinkles and fine lines. Native Moroccans have been using this for centuries!”
What’s the difference between the hair oil and the regular oil?
MOUNA: “The hair oil has been infused with herbs and botanicals that are proven to improve your hair’s texture, and comes with a dropper for easy application. The regular oil comes with a pump. You can use it on its own or mix it in with your favorite lotion.”
What other products do you offer in your line?
MOUNA: We offer the Moroccan Ghassoul Clay, which sucks out impurities in the skin and stimulates cellular regeneration as well as protects skin tissue. We also offer our Moroccan Olive Cleanser which gets rid of old surface skin cells and moisturizes.
Why buy your Argan Oil as opposed to other brands?
MOUNA: “I have personal ties to the Moroccan community and I make sure that the money we make goes back to the women in our cooperative who work so hard to make this amazing product by hand. Our product is made for women, by women!”
Side Note: Last night I applied this stuff to the ends of my hair and I woke up to bouncy, soft hair. I had completely forgotten I had put in the oil and I was wondering why on earth I was having a good hair day lol.
