On New Year’s Eve, I decided to go all out with glitter (surprise, surprise). This smoky blue glitter eye is inspired from the days when I used to do makeup on…ahem…ladies of the night. Living in Las Vegas, I had a wide variety of clients which included strip club dancers and escort girls. What’s so great about these chicks is that they all really loved the glitter, and usually gave me free-range on their eyes.Β  Vegas Eyes

When doing glitter, I like to focus it on the inner corner and inner lid. Notice I said inner lid. The trick with glitter is to keep it away from any part of your eye that creases and folds. Glitter can irritate sensitive skin, so I suggest applying a small amount on your arm to see if you have a reaction before sparkle-fying your eyes.

Here, I did a custom mixture of reflective, gold and silver glitters for the inner corners, then used a cobalt blue glitter on the actual lid.

TIP: My favorite adhesive for glitter, believe it or not, is Aloe Vera. The stuff is so soothing and provides just enough tack to keep the glitter on without the glitter pieces getting muddy, turning matte, or bunching together. It’s really a win-win.
