Hello Summer Sunshines!
Today I’m bringing you six all-new products that I’m super stoked about using this summer. Thanks to my recent birthday, I had a plethora of Sephora gift cards to splurge on and here’s what I got, and give the Lady C seal of approval on:
Bite’s lip mask caught my eye because it was made to apply before drying, matte lipsticks to shield your pucker from flaking. Matte lipsticks are all the rage and have proved they are here to stay, so you might as well pick up one of these to prep your lips before application. If there’s one thing I hate more than Birkenstocks, it’s the feeling of dry, cracked lips. A small amount soaks right in without budging or ruining the look of matte lipstick, a generous amount gives you a beautiful shine and feels divine. I’ve been using it at night prior to bed as a healing treatment, then applying before any lipstick in the morning. Have I mentioned the yummy factor? The all-natural formula is made with agave, vanilla and more antioxidants than a glass of wine. Even hubby steals it once in a while. Don’t tell him I told you.
This is the type of product that needs to be demonstrated to show its full potential, which is exactly the reason I ended up buying it. Michele from Boscia (pronounced Bosh-ah, for those of us who have been calling it Boss-kee-ah) peaked my interest by luring me in to try the sponge in action on my hand. I walked over to the bowl of warm water where this little black sponge was floating, and she rubbed the little guy all over the back of my hand for about 5 seconds. I kid you not, five seconds later the back of my right hand was significantly brighter and more glow-ey than my left and felt as smooth as those Tiger’s Eye rocks I used to collect as a kid.
This pore-perfecting pillow-soft Konjac Cleansing Sponge is infused with Bamboo Charcoal for clean, smooth skin. Use it with face wash to rub all traces of non-waterproof makeup off and brighten and tone skin on your under-eye area, face and neck. The black sponge is for oilier skin and there is a white option for dryer, more sensitive skins.
I. Am. Obsessed. I use it every night in the shower with my new face wash to remove my makeup and clear up my skin. It’s soft, luxurious, and a whole new way to enjoy the tedious task of cleaning your face. My pores are cleaner and the occasional pimple is now less prevalent. Out of all the new things I’m showing you today, I feel like this is the one you absolutely MUST get.
Because it is made of organic material, you should replace the sponge every 2-3 months.
BOSCIA TSUBAKI CLEANSING OIL-GEL: $28
Cleansing oils are the newest trend in skincare, but it’s not for everyone. If you want to dip your toe into the world of cleansing oils without risking a breakout, Boscia’s Tsubaki Cleansing Oil-Gel is a great place to start. The slippery gel texture feels like a face wash, but has minimal suds and all the effects of a cleansing oil without the greasy mess.
It’s a lightweight botanical blend of tsubaki oil (camellia oil), wakame (Japanese sea kelp), and rice bran oil that hydrates, smooths, and protects for the appearance of firm, youthful skin while also removing the daily dirt.
It smells like a Japanese garden! It’s on the pricier side, but it does go a long way. I use one pump on my Konjac sponge and it does the job.
This isn’t just your run-of-the-mill dry shampoo. It also volumizes your hair and extends your style. My hair has been living in various fishtail and french braids this spring and nothing keeps it more together than this stuff. I sprinkle a little in my hands, rub them together and smooth over my strands before securing into a “messy” braid. I also use it to fix my stubborn, growing-out side bangs. It’s fantastic! Works well for all lengths of hair.
This is Benefit’s answer to BB cream, and what made me want to try it is that it goes from liquid to powder, which my oily skin desperately needs. I love BB creams in the colder months, but I find them to be too greasy in the summer season. The Big Easy has a medium coverage, which is fantastic for every day use, with a high dose of SPF 35 to protect your skin from aging. The foundation self-adjusts to your exact shade to even out skin tone and conceal imperfections! I wear the Medium shade and most days, I don’t even use a powder to set it.
Based on the name, this mascara had some big shoes to fill. Better than sex? While I beg to differ, I will say that I do love this mascara. Those of you who read my blog on the regular know I was a huge fan of Revlon’s Grow-Luscious line of mascaras. Sadly, I stopped purchasing after I discovered that Revlon is not cruelty-free. In my hunt for cruelty-free, I came across Too Faced’s line of peeper-inhancers and found this gem. It is an intensely black, volumizing mascara with an hourglass-shaped brush that separates, coats, and curls each lash to voluptuous perfection. My lashes look like they are flying off the shelves when I wear this. Go out and get yours! It’s worth the $23.
Hello my spring chicks!
With summer just around the corner (and arriving early in some parts) I wanted to show you what I’ve been wearing on my tips during this lovleycute season.
Black & White Goth Party
These nails fall into the black and white trend and are super easy to do. All you need are some black polish, white polish, and a black striper.
Nude w/ Black Hearts
This one I rocked right after Valentine’s day. I’m a not a huge fan of pink or red nails, so I chose to go with an opaque nude, and topped it off with a solid black. This nail art is so easy, you don’t even need a striper. Just swipe the black polish down from the middle of the left side of your nail down, and again down the right.
I can’t take all the credit on this one. I got the idea from CutePolish. Watch her video for the instructions! Oh…and don’t mind my index finger nubbin…it was on the mend from an awful break.
I just had to rock my favorite spring color (pastel blue-green) with a fun pattern, so I went with a black chevron print, easily done with a striper.
Which one is your favorite?
Hello beauty lovers,
Last month I had the pleasure of working on Miss Hannah Wackernagle and the one and only James Maslow (of Big Time Rush) over at the Dancing With The Stars studio.
Hannah is a fun-loving 18 year-old from the Mid West with Down’s Syndrome, and she, with the help of her super creative mom and supportive sister Lily, made a video of her asking James to go to her prom. You can watch it here:
Thanks to her hometown community, the video made its way all over the internet and James caught wind of it. Here’s his response video:
James himself paid for Hannah and her family to come down and spend the weekend at Disneyland and Dancing With The Stars with him. Being a newly minted Hollywood starlet, Hannah needed a glam squad. That’s where we came in. I met her at her trailer and glammed her up for her big number with James. A tiara, lots of silver eye glitter and a sequined gown to match! I also got to get James Maslow ready for the day, and he is every bit the nice guy that he seems on television. Everyone was great to work with and we had an awesome day on set!
Here’s Hannah enjoying her hair and makeup in her own trailer.
