July- It’s Hot Out!- Poll

1. Mood: Frozen (is that a mood?) the AC is cranked up way high over here and I can barely type lol.

A still from Madonna’s Frozen video- I figured it was appropriate.

2. Wearing flip-flops to work: yea or nay? Absolutely not. Under any circumstances. Even on Casual Fridays. And let’s face it, we have all be guilty of doing it at least once. I LIVE in flip flops at home, but I don’t love my feet and certainly don’t need to expose each toe at work like it’s the freaking beach.

3. Last outdoor concert you went to? Kanye West back in April 2008 in Las Vegas. He killed it at the Red Rock Casino’s outdoor venue! We all wore shutter shades and were right up at the very front. Lupe Fiasco opened, one of my favorite artists. The weather was perfect, and I was with all my best friends. Thanks again, Gel and Twone for the tickets!

From Left to Right: Antwone, me, Angelica, Nathan and P.E.

4. I’m secretly terrified of… bodily waste. I guess not “secretly,” I make it well known lol. I can’t stand boogers, poop, sweat, farts, burps coming from grown adults. Sickening! Knowing that I am breathing in other people’s filth disgusts me. My worst nightmare is always when I’m on the treadmill at the gym and the person next to me farts. Kill me now.

5. One day, I’d really like to _____.  Buy an acre or two of land out in Santa Barbara for a sanctuary and rescue horses and dogs. I would just let them run around and live out the rest of their lives in peace, away from the evils of the world…

This photo cracked me up!

6. I’d like to sing a duet with ____. Michael Jackson. How jealous was I when he sang “I just can’t stop loving you” with Judith Hill in “This Is It”?! That should have been me, darn it.

“I just can’t stop loving yooouuuuu”

 7. Have you ever tried to hide a tattoo with makeup? Not my own, but clients, yes. Might I say that full coverage concealer and airbrush foundation are the ways to go.

Look Ma, no tears! Yep…that’s me.

8. Things you say/sing to your pet all the time: I make up songs for Capuccino all the time. I guess the “all-time favorite” one is a little medley that goes like this: “Batchig, batchig, batch-eeg, gimme gimme kisses” (Batchig= Armenian for kisses)

He may or may not be a Belly Rub whore

9. Do like the taste of raw cookie batter? Why yes, yes I do. Funny you should say that, I had some delicious Breyer’s Mrs.Fields cookie dough ice cream last night.

10. Weekly goals: Buy a car (stressful!), create a video for my boyfriend’s work, and take care of my sicky-poo sister.

I’m looking for a used Rav4, preferably red. Sport or Limited. Leather seats and a sunroof are musts. Wish me luck!

May Monday Beauty Poll

1. Mood: Do you ever feel like your brain processed too much information in too short of time? I’m totally crashing.

I am notorious for staying up on Sunday nights. I am just not sleepy. So I lay awake in the dark, with my mind racing, thinking of all the things that need to be done and oh! That would be a cool video to do, and oh! That would be a great makeup look and oh! I have to buy groceries this week and oh! The list goes on… I had a very busy weekend with family in town and stressful moments so I’m really just exhausted.
 2. Something you’re coveting at the moment? An airbrush machine and a Clarisonic. I’ve never been a big fan of doing airbrush makeup on brides because that stuff moves so easily. But I’d like to get back into it and have it as an option for my clients. I’ve narrowed down my options to the Temptu or Dinair. Any suggestions? I would like to be able to use products with different brands with the machine, so that will play a big factor in which one I will choose. The Clarisonic is pretty pricey, however they just came out with the Clarisonic Mia, which is a mini version of it for $149 and I’m in love with the lavender one. There is a cheaper option from Olay called the Pro X Cleansing System for just under $30 if anyone is interested! But I’m going to hold out for the Mia.

3. An overrated beauty product? Dior mascaras. Big price, mediocre effect. Don’t waste your money, ladies.

4. An underrated beauty product?
Head & Shoulders shampoos and conditioners. Seriously. They work miracles! People always ask me how I get my hair so shiny, when all I do is use good ol’ H&S. Their eucalyptus formula is addicting…it leaves your head feeling minty fresh.

5. Your best birthday party? My 10th birthday party, hands down. We still lived in West LA in a big beautiful home, and my parents got a moon bounce, magician and a kareoke machine. The entire fourth grade was in attendance, and people talked about it for months. It was the party of the year. Well, at least for us 10 year-olds it was lol. I don’t have a photo from the party on hand, but here’s a photo of me around 10 years old, so you get an idea. Yep, that’s little sis I’m reading to. Apparently she’s not paying attention!

6. Where do you go when you need to clear your head? It always makes me feel better to go to the gym and just run-run-run. Going for a walk around the neighborhood with the pup is pretty therapeutic too.

 7. Your favorite local eatery? Los Angeles has some amazing mom-and-pop, non-chain type of restaurants. Below I’ve listed my recent favorites with links.

Hollywood: Prado
Downtown: Yang Chow
West Side: Fritto Misto

8. Guys in jeans shorts — yea or nay? *Sigh. This is a toughy. Do I want my boyfriend wearing jean shorts? Not necessarily. But do his legs need to breath from time to time? Yes. Not the best option, but I guess I don’t mind them…

9. Favorite post-hangover meal? Back in my early twenties, nothing settled my stomach after a night of tequila shots like a 4am trip to IHOP (Rooty Tooty Fresh & Fruity!). Nowadays, a Dr. Pepper in the morning with 2 Advil does the trick. DP really is a God-send!

10. Weekly goals: Try not to be so A.D.D., take one day and one task at a time. I need Jesus! I’d also like to take some time out this week to either draw/paint or do a makeup tutorial. But we will see what this weekend brings…

Concrete Jungle Where Dreams Are Made Of

Hello my beauty lovers! You may (or may not) have noticed my absence this week from my blog. I’ve been in NYC on a business trip. As many of you know, I work for CBS and Nancy Grace (my day job). CBS sent me there to assist in a press tour for Nancy. It was a pretty quick trip and we had our hands full with all of Nancy’s appearances and interviews, but I was able to capture a couple of nice shots of the city on my Blackberry.
As we were flying through the city’s streets in our town cars, we whizzed by this beautiful buidling on 5th Ave. I just adore the pop of teal on the roof, and the detailed architecture of the windows! PS–> every cab and town car ride felt like being on the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland.
The view from Nancy’s office in the CNN building. Even though it was “dirty street snow” I still was in awe.
At the end of our fast and furious NYC trip, I came home to this little mooshie who couldn’t wait to snuggle up to his mama. Here he is absolutely exhausted from yapping around my rain boots happily that I was home.
TRIP HIGHLIGHTS: Being in an elevator with Anderson Cooper, meeting Joan Rivers, and having an amazing dinner at a little Italian place called Alloro, with my good friend @CatChung. It was restaurant week in NYC, so all the restaurants had set $35 menus! It was great to finally meet all my contacts and see all the studios and stages of each show Nancy was a part of!
TRIP LOWLIGHTS: Getting sinusitis the last day, getting car sick and puking in the CBS Corporation building (FML), and basically getting no sleep the whole time. But you know what? It was all worth it…
