Announcing the Winner + Violent Lips

I’m pleased to announce that Janet Medina (a fan from my Facebook page) won my first Youtube giveaway! Thank you for everyone who entered. It was so  nice to get to know all of you online. I hope that my tutorials are useful to you and if you ever have a request, please do let me know, I’ll be happy to help!

Speaking of tutorials, you will notice in the first video that I’m wearing a peculiar pink leopard pattern on my lips. This is a product from Violent Lips.

ViolentLipsCollage

I myself was a lucky winner of their Twitter giveaway a couple of weeks back and received these lovely pink leopard lip tattoos. I’d definitely seen and heard of Violent Lips, but was always intimidated by the product. In the video below, you’ll watch me try them on for the very first time. I rarely practice my looks before I film them, and this Violent Lips application was no exception. Click below to watch the easy steps on lip tattoo application, then head over to their website to check out all the ombre, pattern and glittery options!

PRICE: $14.95 gets you three lip appliques (bringing the cost of each to just under $5. Not bad!)

Violent Lips puts the fun back into makeup. These babies can last up to six hours and according to many VL wearers, you can kiss, drink and eat with them on.

70s-Inspired Makeup & Hair- WITH VIDEO

Ah, the seventies. The time of free love, peaceful protests and disco queens like Donna Summer.

I was inspired to do a seventies-style makeup tutorial after I got my new Hot Tools one-inch curling iron. One night I was trying out different styles on my hair and I decided to part it down the middle and curl my hair away from my face. Voila! Instant Farrah.

Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty- TAG with Video

There’s a fun makeup tag in the Youtube community going around called the “Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty”. I would LOVE to see your responses in the comments below or on my Youtube channel!  Here are the questions, and my own answers:

1) GREED: What is your most inexpensive beauty item? What is your most expensive?

Wet N Wild H20 Proof Liquid Liner: $3.99, and Orogold’s Eye Intensive Treatment 24K for $208 (I said $300 in the video, but I was mixing it up with the face serum).

2) WRATH: What beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with?

MAC’s Studio Finish Concealer , I currently wear NW25. Sometimes it looks great and covers perfectly, other days it creases.

3) GLUTTONY: What are your most delicious beauty products?

Fresh’s Sugar lip balms rock my socks! They smell lemony-sweet and feel fantastic on.

4) SLOTH: What beauty product do you neglect, due to lazyness?

Eyeshadows…I just don’t have time for them on a daily basis 😦

5) PRIDE: What beauty product gives you the most self confidence?

Red lipstick, hands down. My personal favorite is Ruby Woo from MAC.

6) LUST: What attributes do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?

Confidence is key! I love logical thinkers… if we are talking physical then I’m a sucker for the eyes. I know, boring but true lol.

7) ENVY: What items would you most like to receive as a gift?

Makeup Forever’s HD Microfinish powder

Tarte’s Maracuja Creaseless Concealer

Too Faced’s Three Way Lash Lining Tool

Nicki Minaj at the VMAs 2012

How gorgeous did Nicki Minaj look at this year’s VMA Awards? I absolutely adore her in the “Barbie” theme. She just does it so well. This look is beautiful for a clubby night out or even for a glamourous Halloween look. I break it down for you in the video at the end of this blog.

Here’s my version:

SUCH a fun look, I didn’t want to take it off! Click below to watch the tutorial:

YB Skin’s Moulin Rouge Debuts August 1st

Hi beauty lovers! Today I bring you a brand-new, not-yet-released product by Youngblood Cosmetics. Debuting August 1st, Youngblood presents the Parisian-inspired Moulin Rouge eye shadow quad. Moulin Rouge features three nudes and a gorgeous burnt orange. Can-Can is a caramel peach and a great “in-between” shade that works well in the crease and for blending the other colors together. Revue is a brightening shell shade, great for the brow bone, inner corners and lid. Cabarets is a dark chocolate with a hint of red shimmer (heart stopper!). Red Light is that show-stopping, matte orange-red.
These eye shadows are made with finely milled, pressed minerals that sweep on like silk and last for hours. I love using them with my Urban Decay Eye Primer. Don’t be intimidated by this palette, this is  actually a pretty tame quad. I amped up the look with the Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoo in Fierce underneath (to give it that pop of orange).

Moulin Rouge will go on sale August 1st on www.YBskin.com

Sofia Loren Makeover

I’ve got another celebrity makeup tutorial for you guys, and this time I recreated the classic look of Italian icon, Sofia Loren. Chantal, my sister, volunteered to be my guinea pig for this look. Sofia has always reminded me of my grandmother Lucy, who we lost in 2011 to ovarian cancer. The other day, I was missing her pretty bad and looked up some photos of Sofia. I realized what a pretty look she used to rock in the 60s and asked Chantal to help me.

This video took me a full week to edit because I kept stopping to giggle everywhere. It’s pretty hard to film a video with your partner in crime! Check it out below for lots of laughs and Sofia’s dramatic-yet-natural makeup look….

Summer Vacation Makeup

Hello my vacationing beauties! With summer on the horizon, I’m sure all of you are starting to think about getting away to a beach somewhere. The only thing that sucks about traveling to a hot and humid place is that it wreaks havoc on your makeup and hair. Earlier, I brought you a segment about what products to use on your trip, and here, I’ll show you how to use them and have a waterproof, natural pretty look that you can do in under four minutes. Who wants to take all day doing their hair and makeup on vacation? Not me. Take a load off and watch the video below….
